My Debut Album - 'Neath the Gloaming Star'

An extremely overdue update… but I released my debut album! Neath the Gloaming Star has been released to the world. I’m delighted with the response so far and very happy to hear people are enjoying the music I was lucky to make and record in April with some fantastic musicians.

Recorded in GloWorm Studios, Glasgow with Euan Burton at the helm (producer, engineering, mixing and bass-extraordinaire) and John Lowrie, Innes White, Sally Simpson, Conal McDonagh and Phil Cunningham making beautiful sounds on the 11 tracks, the album was officially released on 2nd September, with two main launch events: the first in the Blue Arrow Jazz Club, Glasgow (2nd), and second The Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh (20th).

The album features a mix of carefully chosen traditional, self-penned and contemporary folk songs. I wanted the album to have a relaxed, lulling feel, with many of the songs thematically linking to nighttime/dusk and themes of hardship, loss and love.

It’s now available to buy from this site, Bandcamp, iTunes and most digital download/streaming services.

More updates soon - but for now, thank you for reading and for all the support I’ve received in relation to the album & its release. I can’t thank you enough.

Here’s a wee video from the BBC Proms in the Park a couple of weeks ago, which I was very lucky to be a part of (I had to put on a frock and pretend to be posh and everything! I don’t think anyone was fooled…) Song by the late great Andy M. Stewart and beautiful orchestration by John Ashton Thomas. x
